Anthony Filer Named New CFO of Presence Health
Anthony J. Filer (pictured at right), 57, has been named Chief Financial Officer for Presence Health, the Chicago health system formed by the 2011 merger of Provena Health and Resurrection Health Care, effective immediately. Filer has over 25 years of significant health care finance experience, enabling continuity in this critical role for Presence Health. Filer joined legacy Provena Health in 2002 as the Chief Finance Officer before being promoted to Senior Vice President in 2005 and Chief Operating Officer in 2011. He was later named Chief Operating Officer for the newly-merged system in 2011.
Prior to joining Provena Health, Filer served in executive leadership roles overseeing finance for several Catholic health systems. Filer previously served as the Vice President of Operational Finance at Ascension Health in St. Louis, MO; Regional CFO for the Daughters of Charity National Health System in Baltimore, MD; Vice President of Finance for Franciscan Health System of Aston, PA; Vice President of Finance and CFO of St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, PA; and as a Senior Audit Manager for Ernst & Young’s Philadelphia practice office. Filer is a certified public accountant and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Susquehanna University of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Filer replaces John Orsini, who has resigned to accept a similar position at another health system.
