FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Roberta Luskin-Hawk, MD, to lead Presence Saint Francis Hospital
Evanston, Illinois (October 1, 2013) – Following news last month that Presence Saint Francis Hospital president and CEO Jeff Murphy is retiring, Roberta Luskin-Hawk, MD, has assumed the role of president and CEO of both Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston and Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, effective October 1.
One of only a handful of female physicians in Illinois who serve as hospital CEOs, Dr. Luskin-Hawk has served as president and CEO of Presence Saint Joseph Hospital since 2009. Prior to her administrative role, Dr. Luskin-Hawk had a 24 year medical career that incorporated clinical practice, medical education, clinical research and physician leadership roles. A board-certified specialist in infectious diseases, Dr. Luskin-Hawk has been recognized for her commitment to the communities impacted by HIV infection. She co-founded one of the first inpatient HIV inpatient units in the Chicago metropolitan area, founded a HIV clinical research consortium focused on improving access to people previously under-represented in clinical trials, designed National Institutes of Health HIV clinical trials, was invited to participate in a national NIH HIV Treatment Guideline Committee and was named a “Top Doctor” in Chicago by Castle Connolly. “Dr. Luskin-Hawk’s practice experience, focus on quality and clinical excellence, business acumen and passion for her work are important foundations for her leadership role,” said Sandra Bruce, president and CEO of Presence Health.
In November 2010, Dr. Luskin-Hawk was recognized by Becker’s as one of 50 women who demonstrate outstanding leadership in the hospital and healthcare industry. During her tenure at Presence Saint Joseph, the hospital has dramatically improved patient satisfaction, launched a successful robotic surgery program, unveiled a state-of-the-art emergency department and is poised to begin construction on a 219,000 square foot ambulatory care center and medical office building.
“I look forward to building upon all the great work that Jeff Murphy, his senior team and all the employees and physicians have accomplished at Presence Saint Francis Hospital,” Dr. Luskin-Hawk said.
